BECK TEXTILES

Beck Textiles is internationally acknowledged for bringing textiles to an architectural scale. This closely relates the technical and aesthetic qualities of the works to the site; providing solutions for technical demands such as acoustics, light and spatial movement. Further, the textiles are designed with attention to the overall, atmospheric experience of space.

Often developed for retail, hotels and public buildings, the works of Beck Textiles are always executed specifically for the unique circumstances framed by each client. The design process spans from the conceptual phase, often made in close collaboration with architects, to tender construction, production and installation of the final product. All products, whether they are tactile interior surfaces or artistic, outdoor installations, are exclusively developed, either by hand in the studio in Denmark, or in close collaboration with manufacturers.
ANNEMETTE BECK

Annemette Beck founded Beck Textiles in 1979. She is educated within the field of artistic weaving, and approaches the combination of materials with sophisticated know-how. Focusing on structures, and often-unexpected material combinations, Annemette Beck has for decades presented her works among the world’s most exclusive fashions houses and prominent buildings. Since 2013, Annemette Beck works in close collaboration with her daughter, Sofie Kinch. She is educated as an architect earning a PhD for her research focused on designing for atmospheric experiences. Sofie Kinch has received several international awards for her hands-on approach of addressing atmospheres in praxis.

The collaboration between Annemette Beck and Sofie Kinch reveals a dichotomous approach to the works of Beck Textiles. The dynamic interactions between the fields of textile design and architecture bring the essence of the works to a larger strength and welcome all projects to begin at any scale.
THE STUDIO

Since the studio was established in 1979, the company has expanded to encompass a team consisting of about 6 people with different nationalities and backgrounds. Today, the studio is based in charming buildings in the historical center of Aarhus, Denmark. From here, Beck Textiles accommodates commissions all over the world.

The team at Beck Textiles consists of highly skilled, trained staff, which handcrafts the work customized to the clients exact specifications. The work fuses materials sampled from a range of industries and craft disciplines and crosses boundaries between architecture, art and fashion design.

The works of Beck Textiles are developed in a broad range of techniques and materials. Particularly known for the exclusive, hand woven textiles, the studio continuously explores the combination of traditional processes and techniques with contemporary textile design.
